Donating to the food bank
This is the time of the year that Food Banks really need help to stay above the water. They really need help to fill the bellies of everyone in need that is in our area. This is a great opportunity to teach your kids about giving to others not to benefit yourself. I just took Rylan into the kitchen with a brown paper bag and we pulled down bags and boxes of freebies and multiples that we could afford to give away. We had 3 boxes of tea bags that we got for free that we were able to give away a huge bag of rice a few cans of tomato soup a box of Ritz crackers a box of graham crackers, three cans of tuna, a jar of seasoning, a box of cocoa drink mix, and a large bag of pretzels, I think there are a few other things in there but that is all I can remember. I dropped in a few cans of chicken broth even though I know I will probably be able to use it, I got it super cheap and I know someone else will really be able to use it more than me. It didn't cost me anything and it is mostly extra stuff that I know we probably won't use in the next few months anyway. It felt good to teach Rylan that other people don't always have enough food to eat and that we can help them just a little by giving this way. It will feel even better when we drop this heavy full bag off! I hope you will be inspired to do the same. His school has initiated this food drive so I can not take all the credit but I am excited to fill up my box for the animal shelter soon I hope. I only have one item in it at this moment but I hope to fill it up and bring Rylan with me to drop it off. Use coupons to grab some freebies and put them in a bag!!!!
