Serious!

I want to share that yesterday I got a call from a "company" that and Indian caller was speaking so quickly I could not understand exactly what he said his name or company name was after asking for him to repeat it multiple times. He said he was calling for his company who is working with Microsoft on Windows 7 because there may be infections in my computer that are causing it to run slowly or freeze up. He needed me to log into my computer immediately so he could walk me through cleaning out the bugs. I felt weird as soon as he called because first he called me by my maiden name and I asked where he got my number and I told him that I had not contacted anyone regarding any problems. He said this was a courtesy call to all customers
to help before the problems occur. I felt weird but I wanted to know what he was going to try to get me to do (I was not going to do it I just wanted to know) I first asked him to email me the instructions because I was not in front of the computer (it was actually in my lap at the time of the call but I wanted to see if it was legit or not) he said it would only take 5-10 mins and he could better explain the instructions than if I was to do it alone because if I came across a problem he would be on the line to assist me. Just as entertainment I said I was logging in and I wanted to know what the next step was going to be. He asked me to look on my keyboard to see the windows symbol and hold it down while pressing the "r" and I said "OK but before I do that I want you to tell me what that will do to my computer, will it give you remote access to my computer and files?" he said "no ma'am you are off line how would I have access to your computer?" He was very aggravated with me at this point for asking so many questions. I kept saying things like I just don't feel comfortable with what you are saying to me and I want to know if you can just email me the instructions because I am pretty computer savvy and I could surly guide myself through the clean up and I could also get a phone number and call back because I have long distance and international calling so it didn't matter where he was calling from I would just call back if I need help or have questions. After telling him over and over again that I wanted him to tell me all of the steps before I even started so I would know what was going to happen he just hung up. My point in telling this story and sharing it is to let you all be aware that this is a bogus call and they knew my name!!! So don't just do what someone calls and asks you to do!! This could have turned ugly for me pretty quickly, especially if he would have had access to a lot of the sites that I frequently visit such as my bank or whatever and I will admit my laziness... I have most of my passwords stored on here so I don't have to remember them.
