Tax Time!!

I am not sure if you are thinking about your tax return yet or not but we have ours already spent on next years school for Rylan. So there is not much fun over here, no new toys, no exotic vacations, no plastic surgery, only a great education :) lol I say only but I'm only kidding because we would have it no other way. What I want you to know is this is a great time of year to save yourself some money. I have filed our taxes for the last 3-4 years without any help from a paid program at all. I use a website
www.taxslayer.com this site is totally free for military always, they have a free version for everyone, but they also have versions that you can pay for extra stuff too. I was nervous the first time but now I am so confident and we also get our return much faster than when I go through one of the places in Wal-Mart (Jackson Hewitt or one of the other tax type places that charge hundreds) I also am confident that I entered everything I needed to and the stranger on the other side of the desk didn't miss something or screw something up. I never paid for those services where if they screw it up and you get charged some weird tax later they will pay it I always just took my chances lol so I really hope they always did it right. Try to do your own this year, its free! Print all the forms at the end, buy a seal able envelope and seal it with any other documents (daycare receipts, gas receipts, you get the idea) and seal it up write 2011 tax on the outside and put it with your important documents and hang on to it for the next hundred years ;) lol..... thats it! It really is that easy. You should also know that you have the power to play around with how you want to file to see what is going to get you the biggest return. For example you may look at filing married but filing separately then try married filing jointly and see if there is a big difference. You will feel good knowing that you got yourself the best deal! Start getting your documents together so that you will be ready when your tax forms come in the mail from your employer. Donation slips that you may have gotten throughout the year for example!
