I've never cooked a brisket I don't think. I got one on sale (of course) at Winn Dixie a while back and stuck it in the freezer and defrosted it yesterday so I am going to attempt to cook it tonight. It came preseasoned so that part is already done for me yay! I read online that I should cook it slow so I have my oven set at 350 and I have a roasting pan ready with an onion that I will cut into big chunks with some celery too for the bottom to make a sauce and give flavor. The brisket weighs about 2 pounds so I think I will set a timer for 30 minutes and then check it and put in back in for longer if I need to. I also read that I should put some liquid at the bottom such as wine or beef stock so I am going to mix up some beef stock from the dried stock stuff (I don't know if there is an actual name for the dehydrated stuff other than stock lol) for the bottom of the pan. It doesn't say if you are supposed to cover it or not so I am going to go with my instincts and cover it....
Finished results....
Aaaamazing! Very easy to chew and pull apart not to mention full of flavor and not too dry. Good choice if I do say so myself. I cooked for 30 minutes then checked and needed another 30 minutes. I served this with a pasta salad (which I would like to point out is ALL gone) and cheese mashed potatoes (almost gone) I made crawfish and corn chowder from our left over bag of crawfish and potatoes and corn on Sunday.... It's already gone too the sad part about that is I didn't even get a bowl :( Rhett loves some things I make so much if I don't act quickly... Like the saying goes "you snooze you loose". Rylan cleared his plate 100 percent of his brisket and pasta and potatoes I guess I made an exact estimate of his hunger level tonight because he didn't ask for a snack and when I asked if he wanted more he said "oh no thank you". I think he is growing since he is eating well and sleeping later but that is a different blog.... Goodnight
