Last night Rylan had his first sleep over friend. His BFF came over for a play date and at about 4 or 5 they came into the kitchen and were both saying "can we please have a sleepover?" and Charles was saying "Please call my mom and ask!!" So I text Rhett and asked if he was cool with it. Before he could respond the other mom called to check on them. I told her what was going on and she was a little surprised because he hasn't ever spent the night out at any ones house except his grandparents. I told her I didn't think they would make it all night anyway, I figured as soon as it was dark outside he would be ready for me to call her. I told him he would have to stay over without his blanket and sleep buddy etc. and he was cool with it. She said she was cool with it as long as we were. Rhett was cool with it (after he voiced his concerns of
kids running and screaming through the house ALL night and how he wasn't ready for all of that) so the spend the night was on. I went into the bedroom and told the boys of the good news. We went to the grocery store to pick up dinner (apparently some kids are super picky and will only eat pizza which we had for lunch or chicken nuggets.....). As soon as we got back and I started to heat up their food they both simultaneously got excited talking about how they would be able to take a bath together.... Here is why I made the title of this post Big Daddy, have you ever seen that movie? Where the kid is in the bath tub with his swim trunks on? I immediately thought of that. I remember taking a bath with my friends and cousins when I was a little kid but I didn't know the rules for boys and I didn't know if rules were different from when I was a kid. I mean I thought it was probably ok but I didn't want to be the mom who put the other kid in the tub with my kid and then the other parent was like HEY WTH!!! so..... I text the other mom and told her I didn't know the rules (since she has 3 kids I figured she knew the rules) she just said that her two boys turn the tub into a slide and make a huge mess so I should prob watch them so that they don't hurt themselves. I used a lot of bubbles because I felt like that was the right thing to do. I loved watching them pretend though, Rylan took his shark and had only the fin out of the water making a really bad impression of the jaws song and Charles had the water gun squirting the shark as fast as his fingers would allow. Charles also was excited about the warm towel Rhett made for him (he puts them in the dryer for us while we are showering so we don't have to be cold when the air hits us as we step out of the shower)
I cleaned the floors at least 4 times, they thought it was a great idea to play toss with a bottle of gatorade, and the cap wasn't on that tight so the first one that missed.... yeah orange drink all over the floor. Rylan was freaking out because he thought I was gonna be mad (I wasn't) then they were playing at the table and spilled a whole glass of blue kool-aid. Then there was syrup from the pancakes this morning (which by the way did you know that you can freeze left over pancakes instead of throwing them away so all you have to do is microwave them later? I've been throwing them away all this time, I will let you know if it works or not because we had 4 left and I tried the freezer thing) Not to mention all of the sweeping of the crumbs under the table, and all of the water from the bathroom floor. I felt imagined Big Daddy again.... In my head I saw myself just laying newspaper over all of the messes and saying, no it's cool, no big deal.
This was pretty much a perfect sleep over. I even got a little bit of a big head when I came in to the bedroom while the boys were super into the bike game that sir and camel (those names are a long story) gave Rylan a few years ago and picked up the whole room in less than 3 minutes (I had a cup of coffee brewing is how I know how long it took lol) and I heard Charles say after looking around "Dude your mom is amazing!" I gave myself a little pat on the back for sure :) lol.....
